Summary

Prehistoric (possible Beaker period) pottery fragments and a prehistoric bone spatula were found. Fieldwalking as part of the Fenland Survey recovered two concentrations of prehistoric burnt flints and some prehistoric worked flints. Later during field observation a Neolithic flint knife, scraper and flake were found.

Context 1.
General scatter odd flints. FWL DK.

Context 2 at 6850 9025.
Concentration sparse to moderate pot boilers, few flints not necessarily associated with them. On both sides north end of spread, but tend to concentrate on west side ridge. Further south, relatively few on top of ridge. Chalk loam ridge 47m north to south x 25m max at 0.7 - 1.4m OD. FWL 130.

Context 3 at 6857 8993.
Pot boiler mound on top of loam ridge. Pot boilers abundant and spreading into peat on either side. Fall off lightly toward dyke on east. No flint recovered. Mound higher than ridge on east side dyke where about 0.5m lower and similar drop on west side mound. 53m north to south x 31m east to west at top up to 1.4m OD. FWL 131.
