Summary

Fieldwalking as part of the Fenland Survey recovered a scatter of prehistoric worked pot and a concentration of fragments of Roman and Iron Age pottery. Further fieldwalking and metal detecting has found a wide range of items dating from the Iron Age to the post medieval period including Iron Age material, two first century AD brooches (including one of Hod Hill type), a Roman lead model key, Roman, medieval and post medieval coins and two 17th century sword belt fittings. The lead model key was pressed into wet clay to make a mould. The mould would then be used to make Roman copper alloy key.
