4 June 1985.
Find of preserved timber/possible boat reported to P. Wade-Martins (NAU).
Discovered in course of gravel extraction at the Pioneer Aggregates Pit, Sennowe Park. Two iron nails handed in.

5 June 1985.
Three planks seen(stored in water), remainder of boat having been quarried away by dragline. Remains seen protruding from spoil-heap. Timber Oak, from marsh deposit, not from gravels.

6 June 1985.
Remains removed from spoil-heap and found to be 2m length of keel 130mm wide, 110 mm thick, with prow jointed-in over length of 670mm (dowelled in and secured by iron rivets also) joint in keel for first rib, 970mm from prow. Rib appears to have been 120mm wide and 65mm thick (by measurement beneath head of iron rivet (18mm) which secured rib to keel). Prow has cross hole for pin or dowel some 190mm up from keel and this cross-hole is some 30mm in diameter.
Planking of boat some 18mm thick, clinker construction by evidence of pressure line along one edge of repaired/patched plank. Planks secured one to another along overlap by iron nails 8mm diameter, at 220mm to 270mm intervals. Planks
overlapped by about 40mm. Timber remains on site, in water.
