A road or trackway of unknown date was excavated in 1985, exposing a surface of flint cobbles.

May 1985. In permanent, unimproved pasture, on north side of stream which forms parish boundary between Elsing and North Tuddenham.
Two parallel strips, each about 4m wide, running from stream on southwest to hedge on northeast.
Distinguished by absence of reeds, sedges and havel scrub which grows everywhere else in meadow.

2 June 1985.
Test hole 1m square dug over eastern strip, 20cm of gleyed silt peat immediately above surface of large flint cobbles. Cobbles left in situ.
Two roads/tracks? There is a report of brick footings being dug out of the next hedge to the south, in line with these tracks, some years before, but not properly located.
Site visited by A. Gregory (NAU) 2 June 1985 (who helped dig the hole).
