Summary

This is the site of a medieval settlement. Systematic fieldwalking in 1985 and extensive metal-detecting between 2008 and 2016 recovered prehistoric worked flints; fragments of pottery dating from the late prehistoric to the post-medieval periods; Roman, medieval and post-medieval coins; medieval jettons; post-medieval tokens and various other, Bronze Age to post-medieval metal objects. These metal finds include a Bronze Age barbed and tanged copper alloy arrowhead; Iron Age brooches and a pin; a Late Iron Age/Roman brooch, finger ring and strap distributor; Roman brooches, tweezers, a hair pin and nail cleaner; Late Saxon finger rings, a harness fitting and earring; medieval to post-medieval dress accessories; a medieval mirror case, padlock case, silver finger ring and lead seal matrix; a medieval/post-medieval cast and facetted ring and a post-medieval furniture fitting, powder measure and thimble.
