Full Description
June 1985. In soil pushed in to fill old gravel pit at Gricey's Earth, more or less as marked on OS provisional series 6in map. Found with metal-detector.
Iceni silver coin, pattern-horse type inscribed ECEN.
There is no local knowledge of soil being imported to fill the pit, so it is likely that the coin originated in or near the pit.
A. Gregory (NAU) 4 July 1985.
