Summary

A copper alloy medieval or post medieval strap end and a group of eight burnt medieval groats were found by metal detecting at this spot. These finds are part of a larger Roman to Late Saxon settlement and Early Saxon cemetery complex.

Full Description

May 1985.
Copper alloy object, triangular head with faint incised pattern and two long side prongs, containing remains of iron rivet, 5cm long, 2 cm wide ('strap end').
Slightly to southwest: Groat, very damaged, undated, very blackened and retrieved from apparent twisted mass of fused groats, perhaps eight or so, seemingly burnt.
