Summary

A large early 19th century former rectory, with elegant classical architectural details, and probably incorporating parts of an earlier building. An 18th century icehouse is in the grounds of the house.

About 1840, replacing and incorporating an older building.
Brick with black pantiles.
2 storeys 5 bay facade, end bays slightly taller.
Tripartite sash windows at each end (one now French doors).
Off-centre door with Doric porch.
South facade has large 2 storeyed canted bay with 6 windows; single storey rectangular projection in front.
Many prominent stacks.
Rear service courtyard.
Interior has dining room screen on Ionic columns and fine Greek derived plaster cornices.
Plaster vaulted rooms at first floor, mainly three centred barrels with particularly notable integration of canted bay to south.
Swept main stairs, twisted balusters, rope twist handrail.
Icehouse is late 18th century, brick vault and flint walls, rectangular plan with collapsed entrance passage on shorter side; segmental barrel vault. 30m north of house.

No obvious source of ice shown on (S3); there are a few small ponds in surrounding fields, river a quarter of a mile to south.

According to source [1] the house was built by Fuller Coker, curate of Hingham who extended St Andrew's Lodge there at about the same time.
