NHER 21699 (Monument record) - Earthworks of unknown date and Roman and medieval finds

Probably mostly late drainage, but some e.g. the apsidal-ended enclosure may well be earlier.

'Band' of brick fragments at about 30cm (12") depth noted when scraping for soil.
Identified by A. Rogerson (NLA) as probably medieval, with strange ashy soil concretion fragments adjacent.

At junction of natural watercourse and probable 17th century drain, to west of apsidal enclosure, in bare soil of cattle poaching, one probable sherd of medieval unglazed (possibly Roman) and undatable brick chips, at depth of about 30cm (12").
Earthworks show considerable multi-period drainage features including natural. Except for apsidal feature, mostly incomplete or irregular enclosures, possible near-rectangular ponds.
