Summary

In 1985 an Iron Age Gallo-Belgic E gold stater was recovered from a garden in this area. Thorough metal detecting indicated that no other objects, apart from some post medieval iron nails, were present. It is thought that the coin may have arrived with some imported soil.

Full Description

September 1985. Found in flower bed of garden of finders house. [1]. Found about 30cm down while digging out grape-hyacinth bulbs.

Site visited by Liz James (report in file).
Her description suggests that the coin was found in made up ground, very probably in imported soil, possibly in a decayed clod of turf.

Coin adjudged NOT Treasure Trove at King's Lynn inquest 30 January 1986 and returned to finder.
