Full Description
Found before August 1985. Finds from [1].
Ill-defined area of dense pot scatter.
One Roman greyware jar rim and one base.
Thetford type predominantly Grimston. Three jar rims, four bowl rims, one storage jar, ten sherds.
Medieval unglazed; one jar rim, twenty five sherds, nine glazed Grimston, three medieval glazed. Non-Grimston?, Oxidised surfaces.
One medieval roof tile.
Ten post medieval including glazed red earthenware and stoneware.

Additional pottery finds of 152 sherds including Thetford type, Grimston-Thetford, unglazed medieval, glazed Grimston, One shelly, one Ipswich pimply rim.
Only four post medieval.
One medieval roof tile fragment.

August to September 1985. Metal detecting.
Finds from western part of area as marked on map, pottery above was mostly towards east of area.
Small finds:
1. Coin. House of Constantine 324-340.
2. Half lead spindle whorl or weight, biconical, decorated on both faces, Late Saxon or medieval.
3. Bronze sheet gilt buckle plate, three bronze rivets, punched? Decoration, medieval.
4. Bronze sheet gilt buckle plate, three holes, engaged in fragment of buckle, medieval.
5. Bronze sheet buckle plate, three rivets, medieval.
6. Fragment of bronze sheet buckle plate or strip, incised decoration, medieval.
7. Bronze buckle 13th century.
8. Bronze hooked belt fitting, two holes, medieval.
9. Bronze belt stiffener, two rivets, medieval.
10 to 14. Five bronze belt studs, various shapes, medieval.
15. Bronze attachment stud for horse harness pendant, medieval.
16. Bronze circular sectional rod with T-shaped terminal, function?, date?
17. Part of stem of bronze Early Saxon girdle hanger, punched decoration, (S1).

18. Bronze strap end, Winchester style, lion mask in centre. 10th century (late), (S2).

Iceni silver coin, early type, probably 1st century BC, see identification details in file.
Short cross penny probably Henry III class 7 1223-4, moneyer, Geffrei? Of London.
Silver sheet decorated on one side with crown three fishes, within beaded circle. Medieval? Function uncertain.
