Summary

This is the site of a Roman settlement. Fragments of pottery dating from the Roman to the post medieval periods have been found by fieldwalking.

1 sherd Roman micaceous greyware.
46 Roman coarseware, predominate.
Late and Nar Valley type, including 1 sherd with radiating burnished lines, copy of New Forest Beaker.
2 Roman shelly sherds.
1 jar rim, 1 sherd with stamps, 1 sherd with horizontal groove, Early Saxon.
2 sherds pimply Ipswich.
1 sherd St Neots.
8 medieval unglazed.
1 glazed Grimston.
1 gritty handmade sherd, undated.
2 post medieval sherds (not kept).

16 December 1985. Further collection over same area, soil undisturbed since October, weathered and partly weed covered.
All sherds small unlike previous collection.
2 sherds Roman micaceous greyware.
56 Roman greyware, mainly Nar Valley.
3 shelly probably Roman.
1 Roman colourcoated.
4 gritty handmade undated.
7 medieval unglazed.
1 glazed Grimston.
