NHER 21780 (Monument record) - Site of possible Roman building and multi-period pottery

9 September 1985. Between NHER 9871 and NHER 3574.
Area 25m north to south x equal length of cottage garden to north. About 10 minutes non systematic collection.
Finds apparently becoming denser to southwest but no edges to scatter within walked area.
Roman tile, sample of 5 tegulae fragments and 1 flue tile fragment to indicate considerable spread thereof.
22 Roman coarseware or predominately. Nar Valley type.
1 slip decorated Colchester or local colour coated sherd.
1 probable Nene Valley colourcoated rim.
39 Thetford, mostly Grimston Thetford including jar rims, bowl rims, and storage jar sherds.
No obvious wasters, predominately reduced throughout.
1 spout from pitcher in unusually pale blueish grey fabric, oddly? fired Grimston Thetford.
1 sherd glazed Grimston.
1 hone, complete, rectangular section, remains of iron suspension ring, unusual dense marble like cream to pinkish stone.
Roman coarseware and Thetford sorting somewhat suspect because of fabric similarities.
