Summary

In 1981 a Bronze Age shaft-hole adze was recovered during ploughing on this site. A flint knife was also recovered from the same area later.

Found 1981 by ploughman, when ploughing field near Lodge Hill Farm.
Shaft-hole adze of Dolerite, 17cm long, 9.2cm wide and 3.5cm thick. Taken by finder to Geological Museum, London, where stone was identified as 'dolerite with pyroxeline sparkles and quartz inclusions'. Transparency in file.

Also close by, elegant flint 'slug knife', 'later'.

Finds together may indicate a ploughed out burial.
