Map

3 July 1976. At approximate grid reference.
'Cropmarks' noted on Cambridge University Collection of Aerial Photographs list of aerial phtographs.
E. Rose (NAU) 22 October 1985.

12 July 1990. NAU aerial photography.
Cropmarks of two ring ditches noted at TG 2311 2608, TG 2315 2613.
One bisected by field boundary.
M. Flitcroft (NLA) 10 February 1993.

15 July 1996. NLA air photography.
NGR amended from TG 2340 2620.
Four ring ditches visible.
A large linear appears to be formed by a series of ditches, almost acting like a T-junction, of a large droveway or route between fields. This feature appears, in part, on the 1st edition OS 1890, where a section of it is fossilised in field boundaries.
Several other linear features and enclosures cluster around TG 2332 2638 - the location of a now removed barn/building. It may be that these features relate to post medieval to modern activity at that location, although they could be much earlier.
To the south at TG 2340 2618 is a series of overlapping rectilinear enclosures. NHER 33592 and 30561 both record Roman date finds, it is therefore possible that at least some of the enclosures are that date.
S. Massey (NLA) 18 October 2001.

September 2006. Vertical Aerial Photograph.
4 ring ditches, linear features and rectilinear enclosures are visible on Google Earth imagery.
See (S1) for further details.
D. Lefeuvre (HES), 7 February 2011.

The Bronze Age ring ditches discussed above are now recorded under NHER 65778 to 65783. The possible enclosure feature is now recorded as NHER 65793, the T junction or dove way feature is now recorded as NHER 65786, the possible rectilinear enclosure is recorded as NHER 65789, some of the linear features have been separated from NHER 21834 as they may be Iron Age to Roman rather than medieval to post medieval in date. These have now been recorded as part of NHER 65797 and 65798.

August 2022. Aylsham and Brampton Aerial Investigation and Mapping (AIM) Project.
The cropmarks of a series of fragmented linear ditches possibly dating to the medieval to post medieval period are seen as cropmarks on aerial photographs (S2-S5). The features may relate to a series of field boundaries possibly relating to at least two phases. The cropmarks of probable Bronze Age ring ditches (NHER 65778-65784), a possible Roman rectilinear enclosure (NHER 65793) and range of finds dating to multiple periods (NHER 28181 and 33592) have also been recorded across the area. It is therefore possible that some of the mapped features may be earlier than medieval to post medieval in date. The cropmarks of post medieval boundaries recorded on the readily available historic maps (for example S6-S7) are also visible on the consulted sources. These features have not been mapped as they are recorded in good detail on the historic maps. Dense areas of geological cropmarks are also visible across the area. It is possible that some of the mapped features may be natural rather than archaeological in origin.
J. Powell (Norfolk Historic Environment Service), 09 August 2022.
