Summary

Fieldwalking and metal-detecting has recovered a range of objects in this field. Fieldwalking as part of the Fenland Project identified several scatters of prehistoric worked flint, one of which contained a small Mesolithic component. Subsequent fieldwalking recovered further worked flints, although these were predominantly Neolithic in date. A small amount of prehistoric pottery, A Bronze Age copper alloy axe, two Roman brooches and 13 Roman coins have also been recovered.

MTW CH (c. 3; TL 7135 9539).

On low island of chalky loam just emerging from peat. Sparse to moderate concentration of flint, sparse 'pot boilers' and one sherd of indet. prehistoric pottery. Max dimensions 25m E/W x 22m N/S. The 26 worked flints recovered were not closely datable.
