Summary

Fieldwalking as part of the Fenland Survey recovered a concentration of sparse prehistoric worked and burnt flints. The worked flint were predominantly of Late Neolithic, although at least one piece of probable Mesolithic/Early Neolithic date was also present.

13 December 1985. Fenland Project fieldwalking.
Site FWL 145.
In good conditions, young winter wheat. Set on flattish plateau of chalky loam.
Concentration of sparse flints and sparse 'pot boilers'. Typical spread of material from areas which are now a little distant from peat. Not clear if really a concentration or a remnant of once general spread. 17m east to west x 16m north to south at 0.9m OD. Flints mostly Late Neolithic, including a chisel arrowhead and a fabricator, although at least one piece of possible Mesolithic/Early Neolithic date was also found.
