Summary

Fieldwalking in 1985 by the Fenland Survey recovered a general scatter of numerous medieval pottery sherds, and a concentration of sparse medieval pottery sherds, bone, and shell in the middle of field. In 1989 a medieval silver penny of Edward I was also recovered from this area.

19 December 1985. Fieldwalking, young winter cereal, well weathered soil.
Context 1 = general scatter numerous medieval sherds over field thinning out towards sea bank. TSC BI.
Context 2 at 5393 2090. Concentration sparse medieval pot, very sparse bone, moderate shell but no modern contamination. In middle of field from present tracks, but appears to be genuine site unless results from dyke filling. 31m east to west x 23m at 3.2m OD. TSC 15.
