NHER 22101 (Find Spot record) - Saxon and medieval object concentrations

13 January 1986. Fenland fieldwalking on well weathered ploughsoil (S1).
Context 1 = general scatter medieval sherds also three Roman. TSC BO.
Context 2 at 5382 1780. Concentration sparse medieval pot, sparse to moderate shell, bone ditto but may be due to Middle Saxon occupation on context 3. Very little post medieval rubbish. Sits on a roddon (Fenland word for ghost of extinct watercourse). 37m east to west x 33m north to south at 2.8m OD. TSC 22.
Context 3 at 5370 1773. On low roddon (Fenland word for ghost of extinct watercourse) system sherds of Middle Saxon pottery and bone. Possible that covers whole length of roddon (Fenland word for ghost of extinct watercourse) but so far only two separate groups (at each end) really distinguishable. 2.8m OD. TSC 23.

Some of the material from Context 2 has been reidentified as Middle Saxon pottery and some from context 1 as Middle Saxon and Late Saxon.
