Summary

Fieldwalking in 1986 by the Fenland Survey recovered a general scatter of medieval pottery sherds. Two concetration of medieval and post medieval material was also noted, including shell and bone fragments.

16 January 1986. Fieldwalking, well weathered ploughsoil.
Context 1: general scatter medieval sherds. WSG AP (S1).
Context 2 at 6029 1278: concentration sparse medieval pot, ditto shell, very sparse bone. Post medieval material also very sparse. On levee of silt beside river. 33m north to south x 20m. WSG 2 (S2).
Context 3 at 6029 1287: concentration medieval pot sparse, shell sparse to medium, and very sparse bone. Post medieval rubbish also very sparse. Like context 2, set on levee of silt beside river. 34m north to south x 17m east to west at 2.1m OD. WSG 3 (S3).
