October 2002. Norfolk NMP.
The features appear as amorphous to rounded areas of lighter, parched areas with the darker cropmarks of relict marsh channels around their edges. There are 12 distinct parched areas visible representing a minimum of seven mounds, centred on TF 6063 2015, TF 6065 2025, TF 6074 2006, TF 6067 2010, TF 6073 2013, TF 6080 2008 and TF 6077 2012. The mounds have approximate diameters measuring from 14m to 80m. These features are likely to be medieval in date, and probably represent part of a large group of salt production sites on the Wootton marshes. However an earlier date cannot be ruled out for some of the mounds.
M. Brennand (NMP), 3 October 2002.

Note that NMP extends site into field (NHER 22310) to north of original field to include one of the salterns.
M. Horlock (NLA), 8 July 2002.

June 2013. Trial Trenching.
Evaluation of proposed route of new sludge transfer pipeline.
The two trenches excavated in the western half of this field revealed no evidence for features or deposits associated with salt production. Two post-medieval ditches were the only archaeologically significant features identified.
See report (S2) and NHER 61895 for further details.
P. Watkins (HES), 31 October 2016.
