Full Description
29 January and 16 March 1986. Fieldwalking, weathered ploughsoil and young winter cereal.
Context 1: general scatter medieval sherds. Site TYS BF. Also two Late Saxon.
Context 2: at [1]. Concentration of Late Saxon and medieval pottery moderate, moderate bone, moderate shell including mussels mixed with ash. Partly on silt ridge adjacent to gully. 82m northeast-southwest x 58m northwest-southeast at 2.9m OD. Site TYS 40.
Context 3: at [2]. Composite area of dense shall accumulation with occasional medieval pot fragments, the soil well stained on the northwest side, whilst elsewhere more pot including Late Saxon and medieval with less shell. Bone generally sparse as is post medieval. On silt ridge adjacent to gully. Max area 100m north-south x 56m east-west. Site TYS 41.

Auger traverse across the roddon (on which the pot scatter is situated) with samples of silt collected for analysis.
