Summary

Fieldwalking at this location in 1986 as part of the Fenland Survey recovered fragments of medieval pottery. Subsequent metal-detecting between 1996 and 2025 recovered medieval and post-medieval coins; a post-medieval jetton; a post-medieval token and a range of other, Early Saxon and medieval to post-medieval metal objects. These metal finds include an Early Saxon pyramidal sword-belt mount; medieval to post-medieval dress accessories (including a medieval silver annular brooch); a medieval horse-harness suspension mount, horse-harness pendant hanger, casket key, copper alloy and lead seal matrices, a lead ampulla and unparalleled 15th-century lead pilgrim badge; a post-medieval strap or casket mount, rowel spur and drop handle from furniture and a potentially post-medieval copper alloy unidentified object.
