Full Description
21 April 1986. Ordnance Survey field 595 to 596 combined.
Fieldwalking young winter cereal.
Concentration flint sparse to moderate, pot boilers sparse except for small extension on north side 22m x 18m where moderate to abundant, and few fragments bone mainly teeth. Flint includes broken barbed and tanged arrowhead, broken axe, another worked blade.
75m northwest to southeast x 30m northeast to southwest at 0.8 to 0.9m OD.

Flints are Beaker and Neolithic.

Buried soil exposed in dyke sides around the site was sampled. This proved to be dried out and very degraded.
An Auger hole was alsp drilled on the site to examine the sandy ploughsoil sealing the site.

(S1) and (S3) identify this as a Late Neolithic to Early Bronze Age settlement or occupation site. The site lies on a sand ridge in an area where peat wastage is at an advanced stage, and is one of a number of Late Neolithic to Early Bronze Age sites along the fen edge.
