July 2003. NMP.
A group of probable medieval saltern mounds visible as cropmarks on 1946 RAF vertical aerial photographs.
There are six individual mounds visible, although these may originally have been three or four larger mounds (S1). The features are sub-rounded to irregular in plan, ranging in diameter from 43m to 92m. These features are probably medieval saltern mounds, formed by the waste sand which has had the salt filtered out. These features have not been recorded as a separate record from the Fenland Survey finds, as there is a high probability that the finds are contemporary with the mounds.
M. Brennand (NMP), 24 July 2003.
