Summary

Fieldwalking recovered a general scatter of prehistoric worked flints and fragments of Roman, Saxon, medieval and post medieval pottery. A concentration of fragments of prehistoric, Roman, Saxon and medieval pottery was identified. This includes pieces of a Bronze Age collared urn.

Ploughed and sown surface good, barley not germinated.
Soil sandier to north.

Context 1. General scatter.
Flints; one core, one scraper on shatter piece, two flakes with slight retouch, three flakes, two blades, Neolithic/Early Bronze Age.
Four Roman greyware
Two Thetford type Late Saxon plus four either Roman or Thetford type.
Four medieval unglazed, four late medieval/transitional.
Nine post medieval.

Context 2 at 3910 9796.
Bronze Age collared urn sherd, with part of collar.
Rim and four sherds flint gritted Late Bronze Age/Iron Age?
Roman greyware colander sherd.
Ipswich ware pimply sherd.
Late Saxon Thetford type rim and four probable sherds.
Two probable medieval unglazed and one unglazed red earthenware.
