Summary

Fieldwalking recovered prehistoric worked flints and fragments of Roman, medieval and post-medieval pottery. Observation during the construction of a new electricity pylon may have recorded post-medieval ditches. Medieval, medieval/post-medieval and post-medieval pottery sherds were recovered as stray finds in 2010.

Full Description

December 1985. Hales Survey, Heckingham site 24.
Ploughed weathered and rolled.

One small very crude core, one flake with retouch, two blades, six flakes. Identified by J. J. Wymer (NAU).
Twelve Roman greyware.
Twenty nine medieval unglazed, two medieval glazed.
Three late medieval/transitional.
Fifteen post-medieval.

Monitoring of groundworks for replacement of electricity pylon towers (PPA 68).
No features or finds (except in some cases post medieval ditches - report does not specify at which sites).
