Full Description
March 1986. Hales Survey, Heckingham site 39.
Weathered ploughsoil uneven, quite good conditions.
Context 1.
Three medieval unglazed including jug.
One reduced unidentified.
Seven glazed red earthenware.
One post medieval stoneware.
Context 2.
Three medieval unglazed.
One medieval glazed.
One ?late medieval/transitional.
Three post medieval stoneware.
Context 3.
Twenty four medieval unglazed (?some Thetford included).
Twenty eight medieval glazed amd late medieval/transitional.
Thirteen glazed red earthenware.
Context 4.
One flint: flake.
Four Thetford type.
Fifteen medieval unglazed (including some Thetford type?).
Three medieval glazed.
Thirteen late medieval transitional.
Five glazed red earthenware.
Three stone ware late post medieval or later.
Context 5.
Nine flints: two scrapers of which one crude on cortical flake, one core, three flakes of which one with slightly retouched edge, three blades. Identified by J.J. Wymer (NAU).
Nineteen medieval unglazed.
Seven late post medieval or later.
