Full Description
March 1986. Hales Survey, Heckingham site 50.
Ploughed and rolled and weathered, good conditions.
Site of building said to be carp fishery. See (S1).
One small end scraper; one flake; one proximal end of blade ? may not be an artefact.
Seventeen medieval unglazed.
Nine medieval glazed or late medieval/transitional.
Eleven post medieval and recent.
See (S1).
Identified by A. Rogerson (NAU).
E. Rose (NAU), 23 June 1986.
Site 50.
This area has been interpreted as a medieval settlement. Sherds of glazed and coarse ware together with some possible late medieval/transitional apparently associated with buildings shown standing in 1797 (S2). Undated documentary evidence of a carp fishery nearby may explain occurance.
See (S3).
M. Dennis (NLA), 1 February 2006.
