Summary

Fieldwalking recovered prehistoric worked flints and fragments of medieval and post medieval pottery. The site of a former building, possibly a carp fishery, was identified. The concentration of finds and documentary evidence suggests this was an area of medieval settlement.

Ploughed and rolled and weathered, good conditions.
Site of building said to be carp fishery. See (S1).

One small end scraper; one flake; one proximal end of blade ? may not be an artefact.
Seventeen medieval unglazed.
Nine medieval glazed or late medieval/transitional.
Eleven post medieval and recent.

Site 50.
This area has been interpreted as a medieval settlement. Sherds of glazed and coarse ware together with some possible late medieval/transitional apparently associated with buildings shown standing in 1797 (S2). Undated documentary evidence of a carp fishery nearby may explain occurance.
