Summary

In 1986 a flint flake, possibly Neolithic in date, was found in a pipe trench dug here. Fieldwalking in this area during 1992 produced more prehistoric flints including a retouched flake and a scraper.

Examination of pipe trench for Costessey Heigham Water Transfer Main. Found in trench East of Guntons Lane by old railway:
1 Neolithic flint flake. Donated to Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM : 1998.318.12).

Information from (S1). See map of pipeline route (S2) in file for NHERs 22843-22856 (No 12). It should be noted that the grid reference given for this find on (S1) appears to be some distance from the line of the pipeline marked on (S2).

1992. On surface on site of earlier find.
Thick, partly cortical sub triangular flake with minor retouch at distal end and some steep scraper like retouch on a small area at the left lateral distal end.
Round scraper on fragment of a cortical flake.
