Summary

In 1950 deep ploughing in a field overlooking Potsy Run recovered large quantities of Roman and medieval pot sherds. Aerial photography in July 1992 revealed a complex of rectangular enclosures here. The fact that the enclosure area provided the majority of the pottery finds and could indicate a Roman building here. The enclosures are now recorded as NHER 63065.

October 1994. Aerial Photograph Interpretation.
A complex of rectangular enclosures were identified.
These were originally recorded under this number, but further examination of the aerial photographs in 2019 resulted in the transfer of this information to NHER 63065. See NHER 63065 for further details of these observations, including the possible interpretation of the remains of a Roman building.
E. Rose (NLA), M. Flitcroft (NLA), D. Edwards (NLA), 7 October 1994. Amended H. Hamilton (HES), 23 February 2021.

January 2019. Breckland National Mapping Programme.
The enclosures (and possible building) described above are now recorded as NHER 63065.
J. Powell (Norfolk Historic Environment Service), 15 January 2019.

February 2021. Interpretation.
It should be noted that the mapped extent of this record is approximate, based on information supplied and hand-mapped sometime around 1986. In 1994 the finds were described as having originated from within the main enclosure, but in 2019 the enclosure was mapped several metres to the east of this location (see NHER 63065). Further work is required to determine their exact relationship to each other.
H. Hamilton (HES), 23 February 2021.
