NHER 22927 (Monument record) - Late Bronze Age, Roman and medieval site, multi-period objects

August 1986. Found with metal detector. General finds scatter is context 1. [1]
Bronze Age bronze spear tip, compare with (S1).
Bronze chape fragment of unknown date and use.
Bronze hollow ring of unknown section, approximate diametre 2.25 inches (5.7cm) date?

17th century buckle; Bronze Age sword hilt fragment (found 1987).
Roman greyware 1st to 2nd century sherds (one very odd fabric).
Coin of Constans, centenionalis, FEL TEMP REPARATIO, hut on reverse, minted in Aquleia, dating to AD 348-50.
Sestertius, Marcus Aurelius, reverse illegible, dating to AD 161-180.
Tegula fragment and boxtile fragments.
Medieval sherds.

1997. Metal detector find. [3]
Probably part of a very large hooked tag made from lead. Hook missing. Characteristic trapezoidal loop and circular relief decorated plate. Lions head design on plate is turned on its side. Unusual because of large size. Early post medieval.

September 2000. Trial Trench, Excavation and Watching Brief.
Trial trench evaluation and subsequent excavation of area of proposed new house. The excavation of foundation trenches for an adjacent garage was also monitored.
Revealed Roman ditches and an oven/hearth, also a medieval pit.
The finds suggest a high status Roman site nearby.

January 2002.
The northern part of this site was made into domestic gardens in 2001, but permitted development rights have been removed. i.e. their owners cannot build garden sheds, Swimming pools etc without planning permission.
