17th century smithy and medieval sherds found.
Surface finds included many nails and pieces of iron and slag. Finds from a layer of rubble included leather and fragments of clay tobacco pipes.

Rough sketches, notes and (S1) in KLM (copy NAU) state that medieval layers contained cooking pot, German stoneware and French polychrome, and Saxo-Norman sherd at depth of 1.8m (6ft). The first medieval layer was encountered at a depth of 1.15m (3ft 9in) and contained a complex of post-holes.
