Summary

Fieldwalking in 1986 by the Fenland Survey recovered a concentration of medieval pottery sherds along with some brick, broken tile and other rubbish. This was noted on a roddon adjacent to the River Nar, though it was also very close to an infilled dyke and thus there is a possibility that the material was not derived from this area. One pottery sherd may have been Roman in date.

Map

13 November 1986. Fenland fieldwalking weathered soil, young cereal. North bank of the River Nar.
Concentration medieval pottery with some brick, broken tile and other rubbish. On roddon adjacent to River Nar. However also very close to infilled dyke and thus a possibility this is not an original site. Location close to river but in peaty silt is anomalous but such curiosities do occur. Only further work will clear this up. WHW AL (S1).
One sherd perhaps Roman.
In NCM [1].
