Summary

Fragments of Roman pottery and brick were found when foundations were dug for a new bridge across the River Thet in 1986. This included a fragment of 2nd century AD Central Gaulish Samian pottery from modern France.

Found when digging foundations for bridge by [1] while working with Manpower Services Commission team. On south bank of River Thet by bridge for Peddar's Way.

29 August 1986. Visit.
Some spoil still visible but digging backfilled.
Fragment Roman brick.
Seven sherds greyware.
One sherd Nene Valley colour coated ware.
One sherd Samian 2nd century, Central Gaulish.
One sherd Oxfordshire slip ware.
