Summary

Fieldwalking as part of the Fenland Survey recovered a scatter of prehistoric worked and burnt flint. Two concentrations of burnt flints may be indicative of prehistoric occupation. Cropmarks of circular features visible on aerial photographs are probably natural.

Young cereal, well weathered soil.
Context 1 general scatter.
Pot boilers with groups at 7230 9660 and 7245 9668 (no Fenland number).
Note on (S1), edge of Neolithic site NHER 4745 impinges on this field on east side, but how accurate R.R. Clarke (NCM)'s marking is, here, is not known.

Context 2 at 7233 9667. MTW 75.
Concentration moderate pot boilers but no flint. On edge of peat filled hollow. 31m north to south x 26m east to west at 3.1m OD.

Context 3 at 7244 9657.
Concentration sparse pot boilers with couple of flints. On loam ridge above hollow 22m northeast to southwest x 15m

R. Silvester (NAU), 24 November 1986.

On NLA air photographs taken 7 July 1992 circular features occur in the north of this field, and the adjacent field, listed by D. Edwards (NLA) as ring ditches. However, these are hard to differentiate from the sub-circular glacial markings around and are probably natural.
E. Rose (NLA), 18 April 1994.
