Earthworks (since levelled) possibly relating to the site of a Second World War gun or spigot mortar emplacement are visible on aerial photographs (S2-S5). The feature consists of a central pit with a surrounding earthwork bank. It is possible that the feature may relate to the site of a Second World War gun or spigot mortar emplacement. The feature can be seen as an earthwork on the 1940s aerial photographs (S2-S5) and had been levelled by the 1970s (S6). It has been previously suggested (see above) that this was the site of a Second World War pillbox. However, the feature appears to be an earthwork rather than a structure on S2 to S5. The form of the feature is also inconsistent with other Second World War pillboxes mapped as part of this project (for example NHER 32416). It is, however, possible that an earlier pillbox could have been located at the site and removed before 1946.
