Summary

Fieldwalking in 1986 by the Fenland Survey recovered a general scatter of medieval pottery sherds. A concentration of medieval pottery and some post medieval pottery sherds was also noted.

8 December 1986. Fenland fieldwalking, well weathered soil, cereal. Field east of Clarke's Drove Siding, north of sheepfold on 6 inch Ordnance Survey map.
Context 1 general scatter odd medieval sherds. (includes Lyveden ware). WHW AN (S1).
Context 2 at 6280 1399. Concentration medieval pottery, moderate, and some post medieval, as well as gravel small stones. Seems to be on tongue of mineral soil, beside West Winch Common. About 100m northwest to southeast x 33m northeast to southwest dispersed in places at 2.4m OD. WHW 3 (S2).
