Full Description
26 January 1987. Fenland fieldwalking.
Well weathered bare soil. About 0.6m high at 1.6 to 2.2m OD.
MTW CZ.
Possible barrow. A mound projecting above the general level of the slope but only just above. It shows on an aerial photography and on ground and is about 35m north to south x 38m east to west although tongues out to west. Around it is a broad peat depression, which might or might not be natural. A few flints on southeast sector.
R. Silvester (NAU), 28 January 1987.
Note NHER 2528 Beaker sherd found just to south of this site.
For full details of wares, flint types, etc. see (S1).
January 1988.
From road, only humpy ground visible - no barrow, no soil change.
J. Wymer (NAU).
1 October 1996. Trial Trenching.
Evaluation in advance of erection of horticultural glasshouses.
Mound-like appearance of suspected barrow shown to be the result of a rise in the underlying geology.
See NHER 60663 for further details.
P. Watkins (HES), 23 March 2015.
