Summary

Metal detecting recovered a two Roman brooches, a possible Roman to Early Saxon bracelet, an unusual gilt copper alloy 9th century AD mount depicting an animal and a post medieval stud with silver sheet decoration.

Roman Aesica brooch, mid 1st century.
Bronze bracelet-like object with transverse grooves at terminal, wider portion with rectangular cut-out, tapering two panels with inscribed crosses and transverse grooves. Undated but probably Roman or Early Saxon.

September 1989. Metal detecting find. In area of earlier finds.
Post medieval concave-headed stud: thin silver sheet with leafy epousse decoration around edge.

November 1989. Metal detecting find in same area.
Hod Hill brooch with side knobs. Pin missing, upper part of bow and head only extant. One side knob extant close to top of bow, which has broad central rib, flanked by grooves on each side.
