Summary

Metal-detecting and fieldwalking between 1986 and 2014 recovered a prehistoric lithic implement; a post-medieval gun flint; medieval and post-medieval pottery sherds; Iron Age, medieval and post-medieval coins; a post-medieval jetton and a range of other, Roman and medieval to post-medieval metal objects. These metal finds include a Roman brooch and weight; medieval to post-medieval dress accessories; a medieval harness fitting, copper alloy ring, book clasp, spindle whorl, weight and part of a cauldron; a medieval/post-medieval copper alloy ring and a post-medieval brooch, crotal bell, furniture fitting, window came and a large number of musket balls.

November 1986. Found in fieldwalking.
Context 1: general scatter post medieval and medieval finds.
Context 2: flints. Worked flint.
Three medieval sherds. Bronze sheet, unknown use, looks early. Henry III cut halfpenny London mint. Lead weight possibly from a clock, post medieval? (but in shape like Roman weights from Wicklewood).
Three post medieval bronze buckles one very large. Eighty two lead musket balls, fifteen showing crimping marks and most of rest show seams and/or cut off marks. One gunflint.
Member of the public [1] retains post medieval finds.
