Summary

A few prehistoric flints, a sparse concentration of pot boilers and a scatter of medieval pottery fragments recovered by the Fenland Survey. The pot boilers may indicate the presence of a prehistoric burnt mound.

4 February 1987. Fenland fieldwalking.
Field on northeast side of Brook Drain.
On well weathered ploughsoil, young winter cereal.
WGY AY.
Context 1
General scatter of medieval sherds becoming more common to south of field, also the odd flint flake.

WGY 15.
Context 2 at 6620 1198.
Sparse concentration of pot boilers but no flints, on gently sloping north slope of island. Maximum 38m north to south by 36m east to west at 4.6m OD; soil peat covered by sandy loam with plenty of stones.
