Summary

Fenland fieldwalking here in 1987 recovered sherds of Late Saxon and medieval pottery along with various shell fragments. Pottery types identified included Late Saxon Thetford Ware and St Neots Ware.

14 April 1987. Fenland fieldwalking, well weathered ploughsoil.
Context 1: general scatter odd sherds medieval pottery and possibly some Late Saxon scattered across field. Few sherds of St Neots and possibly Thetford found just west of Context 3. Site TYS CI.
Context 2: at location [1]. Sparse concentration of Late Saxon sherds in slight levee about 61m x 56m northeast-southwest at 3.1m OD, forms continuation of NHER 22383/Context 3 q.v. Site TYS 46.
Context 3: at location [2]. Sparse spread medieval pottery with moderate quantities of shell on south side low levee. 36m north-south x 32m east-west at 3m OD. Site TYS 59.
Finds held by NCM.
