Summary

An early 18th century thatched timber framed farmhouse, one storey high with dormer windows. It was built with reused 16th and 17th century beams and a 17th century ceiling from another building. At some point, a stirrup was hung in the chimney, probably to ward off evil spirits.

Timber framed building, apparently early 18th century but with ceiling beams of much older appearance; retarded style? Stirrup up chimney. See report (S1) in file.

Stripping of building January 1988 revealed that in fact the ceilings are 17th century and 16th/17th century beams with window sockets etc.reused in house; building seems to have been constructed in 18th century around pre existing ceiling brought from elsewhere!
