E. Rose (NAU), 31 July 1987.

(S1) explains the building sequence in detail. The earliest part of the house is the two rooms to either side of the chimney stack. This phase is thought to date to well before 1700 as the window jambs from this phase use early bricks. The next phase was the addition of a third room onto the north end of the house which forms the present kitchen. This extension appears to have been added shortly after the original construction as the heavy ceiling beam between it and the older portion of the house has an identical moulding to those in the two older rooms. At the south end of the house is a later extension entirely of brick which dates to before the late 18th century. Alterations to the windows may be contemporary with this second extension or perhaps a little later. The first floor was entirely rebuilt using well-galletted carstone and brick rubble. The author suggests that the house reached its current form around 1800.
See (S1) and (S2) for further details.
