Full Description
Known as this since at least 1807. Saxon work in present church makes it unlikely that site of parish church has moved. Name said locally to be because 'an old lady wanted to build a church there but did not'; compare Burying Ground Plantation at South Creake, a documented similar origin. Was it the site or proposed site of an early Nonconformist chapel? Road built across plot in about 1970 but no finds made.
See documentation in file by [1].
E. Rose (NAU), 1 October 1987.
