Summary

Metal-detecting between 1987 and 2005 recovered a variety of finds including Roman, medieval and medieval/post-medieval pottery sherds; Roman, medieval and post-medieval coins; a post-medieval token and a range of other metal objects. These metal finds include a Roman cosmetic palette; and Early Saxon mount; a medieval seal matrix, thimble, spur and copper alloy pin; a ?medieval weight and medieval to post-medieval dress accessories.

Summer 1987. Metal-detecting.
Field north-east of Gillingham roundabout.
Medieval bronze enamelled buckle plate.

Four medieval sherds unglazed pottery.
One sherd late medieval transitional.
Roman bronze crescentic palette, (S1).

Three hammered silver coins: Edward I penny Canterbury mint, Edward III penny, London mint, Henry VI groat, Calais mint.

Bronze circular seal matrix with facetted handle ending in openwork quatrefoil and broken suspension loop 14th century S'D LASERE..VCE DE POGES.

1 ?medieval ?copper alloy (possibly leaded) square weight. Cross on front with out-turned bifurcated ends on front and circular indentation on reverse.
