Summary

Fieldwalking as part of the Fenland Survey recovered a scatter of prehistoric worked and burnt flint. Two concentrations of prehistoric worked and burnt flint were recorded. These are indicative of prehistoric occupation.

5 November 1987. Fenland fieldwalking.
Excellent conditions, bare but well weathered.
MTW EW.
Context 1 general scatter.
Odd flints.

MTW 141.
Context 2 at 6976 9686.
Sparse concentration of flints but no pot boilers. On small and irregular gravelly sand islet, west side. 19m north to south x 28m east to west at 1.2m OD.

MTW 142.
Context 3 at 6988 9658.
Concentration pot boilers, sparse locally moderate with a few flints mixed in though not necessarily contemporary. On northwest edge of island - soils are gravelly loam. About 29m northeast to southwest x 16m northwest to southeast at 1m OD.
