Summary

Investigation of this site during 1970-98 recovered a variety of objects. Finds included a Late Bronze Age socketed axehead, Roman coins, Late Saxon pottery sherds, part of a medieval bronze cauldron leg and a post medieval Scottish coin. Further metal-detecting in 2012 and 2014 recovered medieval and post-medieval coins; a post-medieval token and jetton; an undatable gold ingot; a Roman disc brooch and a medieval buckle plate.

October 1987. Metal detecting.
Medieval sherds. Late Saxon Thetford type ware rim and body sherds.
Medieval bronze gilt boss with three rivet holes. Medieval bronze cauldron leg. Unusual bronze strap end (probably medieval). Bronze shell-shaped mount, medieval ?
Post medieval finds: two early post medieval buckles. Shoe buckle. Lead cloth seal with a possible shield on one face. 16th century Nuremberg jetton. Eight thistle merk (1/8 pence) of James VI Scotland 1601-3. Lead seal, not cloth seal.
