Summary

Nos 49 to 53 are structurally one building, originally a timber-framed and jetty underbuilt structure. It is believed to have originally been a 17th-century lobby entrance or screens passage house, constructed in two cells, with the original stack now removed. In the 18th century a row of weavers cottages was built in the back yard, and a passage made through the house to them.

Pre 16 February 1988. Building Survey.
Examined by [1] for Wymondham Society.
Structurally one building, timber framed and jetty underbuilt. Interpreted as 17th-century lobby entrance house, two cell, with stack removed and new stack in service area, and contemporary rear extension. But doorway shown in photograph to latter could well be end of an earlier screens passage, and new stack could be in parlour end. In 18th century, row of weavers cottages built in back yard and passage made through house to them. Now restored as one house.
